Hammers close to each other, how do they grow?

Hi guys, I've got a mix of hammer corals and frogspawn frags all near each other.

I'm wondering if it's ok. They seem ok and opening.

Second, how do they grow? Would there be possibility of them merging ? Could one shade the other ? Or would they be stuck based on space available for skeletal growth ?

I have some that are more aggressive/grow faster thereby shading/taking up space of nearby heads.

Even lower heads on a colony may die back due to shading of upper growth.
