Hanna Alk is great. Just develop a repeatable routine that includes rinsing the cuvette with tank water before filling it. Drying and wiping the exterior with lint free wipes. And when done, make sure to rinse the cuvette out with RO water.

The reagent does go bad over time, but if you test weekly, thats rougly a 6 month period and it should be fine in that time.

I use Hanna for alk and po4.
I cross check with Salifert if I get a strange reading.
Results are always close enough to icp results so I trust Both.
I have gotten weird results, usually at the end of a bottle with Hanna alk.
I am converting to the ph method soon. I go through 2-3 alk bottles a month running 6 systems.

I use Hanna to test my ALK - its the most important one to test. ICP test usually spot on.
I also use it for po4 but only when reagents goes on sale if not i use Salifert.

You can try a couple of tests and pick the one you want and stick w/it.. key here is consistency.
