Day 2 of no power after Beryl gave us a little taste of what it had to offer. Yesterday was cool, no more than 81. Today it hit low 90s. Thank goodness for the generator and battery bubblers! Able to run the tank during the day and then use bubblers at night. Today the tank temp got to 82 before I could get some bagged frozen water in to cool it. Got it down to 78.

Pretty sure I will lose a montipora frag, and we definitely lost a few of the clean up crew. Everything else is hanging in there!

Fingers crossed Centerpoint can get these repairs quickly but I think we can keep it going until they do.

No power, and probably looking at another 2-3 days before it is restored. 93 today, about 90 in the house. The ice packs are not keeping up, but we are cycling them from the tank back into the freezer. Was able to get the tank temp down from 82 to 80 this morning, but I doubt we’ll manage much longer. So far everything is still alive. Two zoa frags, a grandis Paly frag, and a montipora digitata are showing stress. Purple stylo frag is also starting to show stress, but the fish, nems, and other corals still seem ok. All snails except a big turbo have died. Green algae is beginning to form on the rocks.

Water parameters other than temp are high but manageable. Probably do a 30-40% water change once this is alll over. Reload the snails too.

Coral can last a few days with no light, from what I've read. How many, that I don't know. But I'm guessing easily 2 or 3.

Do you have a pump running on the tank? Or are you on bubblers only? You may need to move the water some here and there.

You should have no problem going without lights for a few days. Many people do 2-3 day full blackouts to control algae explosions.

Thanks for the info on the lights! Running the canister filter and power heads about 16-17hrs a day and a bubbler overnight.

You're doing everything you can. Sometimes corals can be sensitive and sometimes they're bulletproof. I hope your lights are coming on soon!

I did this in FRESHWATER way back when we were without power for two weeks.
Hopefully someone with more salt experience will be able to say yay or nay.
Water coming out of RODI was cooler than tank water. I did massive WC to bring temps down to a place that ice could keep up. Starting with 72-74 degree water vs 80 made quite a bit of difference as far as being able to keep temps down. I had to cool the tank with new water a several times but found that it helped enormously. Keeping the rodi water in a bucket cool was easier than cooling the whole tank.

Day 5 coming to an end. No power, but other than a few stressed corals and the carcasses of my cleanup crew, I haven’t lost anything yet. I do think my monitpora frags are likely checking out, as is the smurfette Zoa frag. Water got close to 90 yesterday, but today was cloudy and rained for a bit. No more than 86 today. We’re supposedly close to getting the lights on, but they ain’t on until they’re on.

7 days in the Texas summer heat, but we made it! Power back on. Gonna cool the tank slowly then change 20 of 75gal. Lots of cleanup and tank TLC over the next few days. but we survived.

Been following. That sounded like a nightmare. Nothing like continuous stress to increase blood pressure! Did you have any casualties?
