I have a 2 month old bottle reading 6.8 and a new on reading 6.2…is this a typical occurrence and any ways to work around it?

I have a 2 month old bottle
How do you know the bottle is only 2 months old?
What's the exp date on the bottles?
Have you ran multiple tests with each bottle with the same results to confirm it's not a testing error?
Has the older bottle been left open to air for extended periods?

Sorry for all the questions but there are a lot of variables, and we are all just guessing without more info.

Do both bottles have the same expiration date?

If you’re certain you have the right reagent for your checker, you might consider using the Hanna Calibration Check Set to verify your tester.

The accuracy range for the hannah alkalinity checker is +/- 0.3. If the sample has 6.5 for example, a 6.2 to 6.8 measurement would be within the tolerance range and considered "Accurate". I wouldn't worry about it too much aside from it being generally low. That's the reason people shoot for 9dkh and that will put you in the safe range no matter what test you use.
