so i noticed today that i was not having to empty my skim tank as often as i used to

time for the soak!

put the old reef octopus in a 5 gallon bucket, dumped in a gallon of muriatic acid and topped off with water...

ran the skimmer for 5 minutes, took the impeller out of the pump and found about 1/2 a pound of my daughters hair wrapped around and thru the pinwheel...

cleaned it all up, and decided the return pump needed a soak too...

WOW!!!

PSA... clean your equipment!

I have 5 girls and a wife... who you telling about hair? We have to take a razor blade to the vacuum cleaner rotating brush after EVERY use.

That is a pretty strong muratic mix. I have had it weaken epoxy in impellers and housings at such strength. Probably 16 ounces in that 5 gallon bucket was enough. :) I am glad that it worked out.
