Hi all,
We have very hard water here in North County San Diego. The annual report says around 14 grains! I'm blowing through DI resin and curious if anyone has an inexpensive or simple solution aside from a water softener. I'm renting so anything large is out of the question. I was hoping to maybe add a stage to my RODI system with a cartridge that specifically targets the calcium. I'm realistically only getting maybe 400g per DI cartridge. I'm using a Vertex Automated 200gpd unit.

That is the job of the ro membrane. In my quick search none of Vertex's literature says how the membranes are being run but I assume the waste water from the first one is feeding the second one. I believe this may be what is eating up your DI. What is your tds from the tap and what is your tds after the second RO membrane before going into the DI?
