It will never hurt to have both. As I upgrade my equipment I keep some things as back ups in case. Though I don't have a nano, I do have more than enough flow and return power to compensate in case something fails. As I upgrade some equipment on my new tank I will still keep return pumps and powerheads in case.

Do you guys keep an extra return pump or powerhead in the event your main return pump failed? I’m talking nano tank here so the return pump maybe cost $40-$100.
No but that is absolutely my next purchase. Just waiting to see if I win a voucher for LiveAquaria in a contest I am currently in, if not I'll just spend actual money to buy them.

Any life support equipment should have a redundant unit stored away for backup.
Or a rebuild kit on hand.
Even better, two serviceable units and bunch of rebuild kits, always keeping a freshly rebuilt unit as backup.

I wish my employer used this method of thinking.
They would save lots of money in downtime and stress when they find out the units are obsolete.
Nothing worse than having to replumb a header for your pumps when it goes bad.....

I have backups of absolutely everything other than lights. Just not worth the hassle of not being able to source things in a rush or emergency.

Yea I am probably should just buy a Sicce 0.5 pump since it's only $40. Maxijet is a bit pricey for spare lol

Yea I think I should get Sicce 0.5
Maxijet is pricey? You may have misunderstood what I was referring to, they run $25-$30
