Each day, he’s been eating more (still only a couple pellets, but better than none), and is getting a little more fat. Still not all there with the swimming, but he no longer looks like he is soon going to drop dead. What is strange is that there seems to be a bubble inside his left gill, which moves up and down while he is breathing. When he is eating, he definitely lunges towards the pellets, but misses them entirely. My new theory is that it may have gotten scared and tried jumping, only to hit the lid and become extremely disoriented.

The Hawkfish is breathing normal out of one gill, but fast out of the other. This is the same one that had that bubble. I’ve never seen anything like this before. @Jay Hemdal, what are your thoughts?
I’ve seen this on pomacanthus angelfish, but it is transient and they seem to be able to control it. I call it skip breathing. This seems different - like there is some
Mechanical damage to that gill operculum - but I have no idea what to do for that, sorry.

Thanks,
Hopefully the issue eventually corrects itself, and the hawk can get back on track.

Update: Still no improvement in eating, but this strange bubble popped up today on the throat. This seems to point towards mechanical damage of some sort.
