Hello Fellow Reefers-

I've had a persistent issue I've been experiencing with my tank over the past six months, and I'm hoping you might have some insights.

Here’s what’s happening:
* **Morning:** When the lights start to come on, the water column develops a slight haze.
* **Daytime:** This haze usually clears up as the lights reach their full intensity.
* **Evening:** As the lights begin to dim, the haze returns, appearing more pronounced by the time the lights are off.
* **Night:** About 30 minutes after the lights go out, the water clears up completely.

I've tried using a UV sterilizer, even an oversized one, but it hasn't made any difference. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice you can offer.

Tank setup is a 220.6 waterbox
Lights: Radion G6 Blues and 2x Orphek blue plus bars
-Radions ramp up at 10am reaching full intensity around 1PM and start setting around 730pm.
-Orphek bars coming on 10am and go off at 10pm
Reef Octo 220 skimmer running 24/7 with co2 scrubber
GFO reactor
Reef Moonshine dosing
Randomly run carbon (try to use sparingly to not effect tangs)
Bare bottom tank
Alk ~8 / Cal ~420 / Mag ~1325
Dosing BRS Two Part and KW Stirrer
-2 Part 240ml per day
-4800 ml through KW stirrer per day
PH 8.2-8.6
Nitrates 10-15ppm
PO4 .1-.2
DOC 7.7 last ICP test
NoPox 3ml (I've tried running without nopox and it didn't clear the issue)
Tank has a heavy bioload as I have quite a bit of fish.

You could try running some carbon and see if that removes the underlying cause.

update - still getting the haze in the morning and evenings. I’ve completely cut off the KW and was able to keep Alk and Cal stable. I’ve tried carbon and didn’t do anything in the past.

I’m thinking it’s either a bacteria or plankton bloom. I’ve tried hydrogen peroxide in the past and didn’t seem to phase it either. Not sure what else to try at this point.

@RandyHolmes - wanted to see if I could get your thoughts here? I’m trying to raise the mag also which is currently around 1320 incase it’s some sort of precipitation issue.
