Ah thanks! I forgot all about bluezoo! Heard of them but never ordered anything from them. I never heard of that other place but will definitely check them out!

I have ordered from both and was impressed. Cultivated seems it would be a great source for what you are looking for. I would not hesitate to contact them before either. Very helpful.

I ordered 2 jars of the 5280 pods for algea barn. I dumped them in a few days ago (75% in the DT and 25% in the sump). Im not using a sock yet so who know where they will end up. When @Katrina71 asked if I was feeding phyto, it made me start thinking (this doesn't happen often). I never have used it and they took off in the 32 without it. But there is more volume in this tank and a food souce would be scarce. So I ordered some phyto that should be here next week.

I also ordered my second Icecap 3k used and it was defective. That was a story in itself, but I can tell you the experiance broke me from ordering used from here. The internal magnet was ripped on all 4 gyre holding points. I just received the part and have it installed and running. Flow should not be an issue in this thing.

You adding any to the new tank? I’d be happy to take one off your hands haha.[/QUOTE I plan to put one RBT in it. I "hope" the green splits and I will put one of those is as well. We are donating 2 to aahigh school teacher that is setting up school reefs. Next Time we decide to sneak off towards KC I'll let ya know, we might have a care package for ya!

I plan to put one RBT in it and keeping my fingers crossed the green one splits soon so i can add one of those as well. 2 are getting donated to a high school teacher in a neighboring town. Next time we decide to sneak off to KC, you might have a care package hitting your door.

Got the algea bloom going on now. I figured tank was cycled, so what harm would it be to drop another shrimp. Well lol, removed the shrimp and added some more Dr. Tim's one and only. This puppy will have plenty of nytrafying bacteria. Hopefully by the time I get back from my blues fest I can add a CUC and throw a couple of clowns in QT. Bad thing is it's looking like the start of GHA early. Well, game on.

Kicked on the skimmer a few days ago,do you think that was a little premature?

Excuse the sump room, my final step is organizing and hanging all my contols. Pretty excited, my buddy completed my ATO and it is the testing phase. You can spot the brains of the unit on the floor. I know, not very classy but it's just a test. He has built in and/or programed several fail safes into it. Works like a champ so far! Setting in a 5 gallon jug as the reservoir, I'm leaning towards another brute trash can or something else. A plastic storage tub would be perfect for my need, do you think that plastic would be safe?

Another question, ok two more questions.
1. How high should my grow light hang? It's about 10" off the cheato. But that light is massive and a 150 watts.
2. There very light flow in the sump, should I have a power head in there to keep the cheato moving or just let it float?

Sorry guys this is my first saltwater big boy toy. :D

Looking good! 10" should he fine, just keep a short photo period. To start ~4-6 hours opposite of your display tank lighting. I wouldnt kick it on just yet though as without any inhabitants it's going to drain your tank of nutrients almost immediately. I wouldnt be too concerned on the algae either. It's extremely common in new tanks and will go away on it's own, especially once you get your clean up crew in there ;)

Ok, so I took Crabs advice and shut my skimmer off, it has been running for a few days and had quite a bit of "stuff" in it. Oh, and thanks again Crabs! So a little background I have only delt with cubes and tanks smaller than 32 gallons with the little cheezy skimmers you get for those so this was a new experience. I cracked the lid open and OMG!!! So this is skim!!! This stuff cant even be from our Planet!!! To think I don't even have a load in the tank yet! Must have sucked up some of that gourmet rotted shrimp pieces that I was So Proud of placing in the tank. I took a whiff and thought to myself...self, let's not EVER under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE sniff the cup again! It's the simple things in life....

Got the phyto in, I am impressed with the packaging algea barn provides. I am shocked on the short shelf life though. After I feed what I ordered theses buggers better figure out other survival methods cause HD is spending his money on corals and fish, not feeding bugs. After feeding 16,540 hungry mouths (that I can't see), I think I earned a beverage...or two! Whew! That was hard work, but sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do!;)

I am thinking I am coming around to half circle fish tanks! looks great, is there many challenges having a tank like this one that wouldn't occur with the typical rectangle? Great job, I will be following along!
