Recently I won a Aqueon 14g rimless tank in an IG post by TFH (thanks to them!) so we have decided to set it up as a nano reef tank. The plan is to take this slow, keep it a small budget, and let it mature well before lights added.

I hope for it to become a softy and/or anemone tank in the future. Fish TBD but I would love to know what you have had success with in this size.

We started with some live sand and will be adding live rock as soon as I decide where I want to get it from this time. I would love to order TBS but because this stared as a free tank (and I am sending one to college next month $$$) I am trying to keep the budget low on this one. I am currently using nyos salt mix at 1.025sg.

I am also planning an adding a HOB or in tank protein skimmer. Currently running an internal filter (came free with the prize 📦) and a 50w heater. Will add an inkbird to the heater at some point too.

The prize came with a clip on FW light so I am shopping for a nano reef light. Currently looking at the Popbloom.

Next steps:
• live rock
• Nitrogen cycling (fishless)
• light purchase

Congratulations! Aquascaping will be key. Search for cube tanks and find what works for you.

Live rock added. Lights will still be out for at least two more weeks. Feeding the growing pod population. They are mowing through a cube of mysis each week so far!!

Have some hitchhiker stars on the rock I will keep my eye on and have a file fish I may move temporarily if they start populating rapidly.

Trying to ID this hitchhiker:

It doesn't like when I turn theblight on and is soft bodied.

Any IDs?

2 months and 1 week Update

Well it has been a bit since i have updated.

Things are going well in the Nano. We call it our Little Little SGI tank.

We have happy fish and the corals are loving the high mounted Red Sea 90 that I got a DEAL on!!!!!

I added a Aqua Ready nano HOB protein skimmer.
