Hello, I have the inkbird controller with two heaters, two thermocouples. I have both heaters in the sump, but I am looking to understand where to place the control thermocouples.

Should they be in the same location? Should they be in different locations?

What location? In the tank, in the sump?

Tank is experiencing a few deg swings and it keeps alrming so I am assuming how I have it setup now is incorrect.

I personally like to have the temp probes in the display with the heaters in the sump. That way if the return pump fails (or worse, a tank leak happens ✊🪵) I will get a temp alarm. I put them by the return weir.
