Anyone know if it’s typical for a Hector to only be active at night? I added him about a week ago, and was worried he might be dead. But I just checked the tank in the middle of the night and he was out and about.

After adding him to the tank, he hung out for a while, then hid in the rock work.

So not sure if this is standard behavior. Maybe he’s just getting used to the tank, or is another fish spooking him?

Other fish:
2 perc clowns
Purple tang
Foxface
Midas blenny
Mandarin
2 chromis
3 lyrtails
melanarrus wrasse

If it persists much longer there may be another issue. Hiding at first is normal, but coming out regularly is not, unless the room is bright after lights out.

I’ll have to watch and see if it’s more than a one time occurrence. The room was definitely pitch black. I was looking in the tank with my red flashlight at the time.

Fingers crossed he’s just getting used to the new environment!
