I've actually been here for well over a month now but I don't think I ever actually posted a thread here that officially introduces me/us.
My name is Carla and I live in a small town in southern Michigan - out in the country with deer and wild turkey in the backyard. I'm married and have three kids. Two boys that are too old to live at home but they do anyway. Hubby runs his own surveying company and the boys work for him part-time. Youngest is a girl that IS young enough to be at home (13)
We did a 75 gallon saltwater/reef tank about 10 years ago that we ran for about 3 years and greatly enjoyed. But we had to move, etc ... and were out of the salt biz for a long time. Now we are in a new, permanent house (I am never moving again!) and so we finally took the dive. Decided to go relatively "big" as we know we love it and got a 125. With much help from our LFS and you people here we braved sumping to basement and it is finally all up and running and sumped etc. No livestock yet. Going through a fairly ugly stage right now but that's cool. We are patient. We are very lucky to have an outstanding LFS about 30 minutes from us and that helps sooooo much. (I love you Preuss!)
I work for hubby but have worked in journalism for many years - so I type fast and tend to write long posts. Sorry! LOL
Will probably get our first CUC in a few weeks when we get back from a vacation "up north." Starting to work on the fish "wish list" so we can at least know what to get first when we do finally start to add fish. Our top pick is a sailfin tang so everything else is going to flow from that.
I personally like the look of the SPS corals so sort of thinking we might go in that direction coral-wise but pretty flexible about everything except that lovely sailfin tang. Gonna name him Tyrion as we are all huge Game of Thrones fans.
Hi all and thank you for all the great advice and encouragement we've already gotten from R2R!
