I've been doing reefs for about 25 years, old school. Had a custom corner app. 100 gal built for my living room. Never had a trank crash, but I did have a tank leak, so that was rebuilt about 10 years ago. Fast forward to last year. We started going to our place in Akumal, Mexico (my reef is my backyard here!) for longer and longer trips, and in July while gone my tank was OD'd on Alk. CRASH !! Managed so save all my fish, but lost 95% of corals. (20 gal per day water changes, and ripping everything coral out as it started to slime). Established different coral saving buckets, cleaning, praying everything).
Time to decide, get current or stop. So we started over. Got the fish healthy again, and stabilized the few remaining corals. And started reading this forum. Thanks everyone that contributes here. Bought an APEX w/ Trident, now DOSing. Became obsessed. And here I am.
As a side note, last spring, I was given a male peacock mantis, as my office mate. Maybe a tank build on him.
