You guys overseas did an great job to create "trends" which keep reefing fresh even for old folks and attractnew ones. Right now it's all about bounce mushrooms right?
The price is ridiculous but it creates the "wanna have" syndrome and inceases the assortiment due to higher demand.

Bounce mushrooms, Torches (Euphyllia glabrescens) and the Fimbriaphyllia genus like Hammers, Frogspawn, etc. are in high demand, so they command a quite high price. So too the larger LPS like Acanthophyllia deshayesiana & Australophyllia Wilsoni. Acropora tenuis, especially the named varieties, also.

Perhaps because the US is such a large country with a good sized/highly diverse population and distinct regional differences, we tend to have a great variety of types and sizes of aquaria. I think there's less of a 'let's follow the common norm' and more of a 'let's experiment!' mentality that can potentially lead to new trends and fads.

Good point about 'keeping it fresh for old folks'. While many of us long time reefers may shake our heads and mutter in our beards at many of the new trends, it does wake us up and provide some entertainment :)
