Welcome to R2R and to answer your question, you do not need to do water changes as of right now. You do water changes to replenish the trace elements for your corals and remove excess nutrients!

Thanks for the welcomes. First question: Is there any reason to do water changes if it's just a tank with live sand/live rocks? Due to Covid-19 stay-at-home, I am having patience forced upon me and cannot visit any LFS. I'm doing water testing and will adjust anything necessary before adding livestock.
Hi, no need for water changes during cycle process nor the filter media. Filter floss or batting is fine but save your carbon or any other chemical media until its needed. To use it now would be a waste of your money.

Creating a strong bulwark: Did you consider floor support for your reef tank?
