Hello I'm not new to the reefing scene but I've recently been guilty of not giving it my all. Reef tanks take effort. I'm starting to get my parameters in check as I want a tank full of nems and I want to give them the best environment I can. Kh 8.6, Ph8.0, Ca 400pm, Mg 1350, PO4 0.02, nitrite nitrate ammonia are always low. Evergrow it 5060s. Ive joined the forum because I've left the cesspit which is Facebook, so I need a place where I can come to for help when needed. My problem this week is that I need some info on my lighting. I can't afford the best leds on the market so I've bought a new set of the evergrows as I had gotten a 2nd hand set of an older model a few years back and was pretty impressed with them. The problem I have this time is knowing what they are like long term. Like I've said before Ive been guilty of letting my parameters go to dirt and I've gotten them back up by dosing and building a kalkwasser drip to keep my alk, Ca and water level up as I was having to top up a litre every morning. I only have a ricordia mushroom, some xenia that are shining really bright. I've 3 Btas 1 I got from a friend that has been shredded completely a couple of times, who's colour isn't great but when he 1st got it it looked like it had its own power source lol. The 2nd 1 I got was brown when I got it and its coloured up a good bit but not very bright and the 3rd is a little green 1 I got from the LFS which is doing pretty good, it hasn't moved from where it was placed. Any who to cut that long story short, are my lights up to the task of getting these anemones up to standard?

Welcome!

You're putting in the effort. If u can, an ATO will really help lessen the work load. Do u have a link to your lights?

I've set up a drip system thats been helping the last few days. Early signs are good and for some reason the tank is not evaporating the litre + a day it was having to be topped up. I havnt the room for a top up system. What do you mean a link to my lights? Im not tech savvy lol

Hey! Welcome to R2R! I don't know much about evergrow lights but I do know that you don't need ridiculous expensive lights to grow coral. Good luck and happy reefing!
its not so much the growing of coral I'm worried about, its the production of zooxanthellae.

The Evergrow lights are readily available on Alibaba and eBay. The same lights are lights sold here, in the US, under the Reefbreeder Photon V2 label. Many people have been using these lights for a number of years and I've not seen anything but good reports. There are links below to each light for comparison.

This is a thumbnail of the ab+ settings I seen when I tried to do a bit of research on best lighting schedules for the production of zooxanthellae and I got me looking at the lighting spectrum of my own lights the evergrow it 5060s. The uv output is only about half this and it got me a little worried. Ive a photo in my phone but it won't upload as its too big!?
