Hi, I'm new here and new to reefing. I've wanted a Coral focused tank for a really long time, and this father's day, my wife and kids got me a tank and equipment as a present. It's a 90gl tank, so it's bigger than what I would have liked to learn on but here we are and we're going to give it a go!

Welcome to the Reef. There are benefits to going bigger for your first tank, such as water stability, more options for livestock, and overall a little more forgiving for mistakes.

Welcome to Reef2Reef, and to the hobby! As has been stated, bigger (50-90g) tanks are the best size to start with, because the increased water capacity helps dilute potential contaminants and it isn't so big that it costs a fortune to feed or do a water change. I made the mistake of starting with a 24g and instantly graduating to a 210g ;Facepalm it was a steep learning curve and a big wallet buster to say the least.

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef! Patience is the key in this hobby! This is the place to ask questions. Doing that and doing plenty of research into the livestock will help avoid some mistakes and probably save you money (that you will then spend on your tank).
