Yes! I actually started this saltwater for my 8 year old autistic son. He loves sharks and knows he can't have one but he absolutely loves his tank. He's named every fish and invertebrate in it. He always checks on them and watches me clean it. My 6 year old daughter had a 20 gallon freshwater that I just upgraded to a 55 and she has to feed them and check them daily and give me her input on decorating etc. My oldest isn't too interested yet but maybe if I asked if he wanted one himself.
