I've got a good handle on water chemistry and much has not changed, but a few new methods of maintenance ( zeovit, Titan method, lighting). Refugiums were starting to take off when I left. A lot to think about. Kalkwasser (big tank?) to start and then 2 part. Zeovit/triton look interesting or hybrid approach. Pax Bellum, closed loop high flow UV, 2 100 gal tanks for ato, water changes, Apex controller. A lot of fun planning.
