Has been a very long time it seems since I updated this post but that is because a lot has happened to the tank and I have been on the mend to correct it.
I finished my floors in my house and moved the tank back into its orginal spot and got my entire house put nack together. The to follow after was a very unfortunate one. Within yhe entire week i ended up losing all the fish and my fire shrimp, along with 4 (very close to 5) corals. On top of that was dealing with an insane outbreak of hair algae. When I did the water change to move the tank I ended up replacing half the volume with sub par water. I did not realize this until yesterday because I havent done a water change on it in about 2 weeks ( which i will explain that conclusion).
2 of the fish we were able to get the bodies. The last water change i did was the last straw for my white clown, did not notice he had died, went to check on the tank about an hour or so later to find the tank completely empty. Shocked I looked everywhere to find that my anemone had eaten
. So since all this i have been running the tank fishless.
My thought behind this was so i could fight the algae outbreak and reestablish the biological filter. When i did that half tank change, my new water made all my parameters plumment (not the salinty though) so slowly brought all of that back up and when i moved the tank back i didnt not do another water change for that reason. The day my last clown died i did a water change and that was 2 weeks after i did the new water change when i first moved the tank. Noticed the water parameters where off again. Knew i needed to test the water change water i decided to wait so i could fight the algae. I added carbon immediately in hopes it could pull whatever was in the tank. I ordered some reeflux and added that to the tank and some nitrate booster (neonitrate) because my nitrates it zero and were not moving. I was also getting bad cyano so I put in a bigger pump with a vca random flow generator (2 head) and relocated the powerhead to push water behind the scape. The flow actually evened out well so i was quite happy with the addition. I also got so maxscpect biospheres and added those to the back chmber to help with biological filtration and got some microbacter7 to help sort restablish the biological filter. So far the nitrates are up and in 2 weeks the hair algae is gone. Along with that added in an army of astrea snails, another tuxedo urchin and a massive turbo snail. Everything is working hard and keeping the ta k spotless. Ordered a new hanna checker for alk and I have gotten the tank dialed back in perfectly.
Now i went to do a water change yesterday but prior wanted to test the water. Alk was 4.9, absolutely horrible. Went to test my calcium and as i stuck my hand in the water i realized i had a cut. It was not bleeding but because on a more sensitive layer of skin noticed i was getting shocked and the water was very warm. I grabbed the heater on the outside of the water and got shocked again. My theory is between the water be absolute trash and the heater leaking basically god knows what along with the stress of moving the tank is what killed everything in the tank. I orderd a new heater and will tear the water change down, clean it again and make smaller batches until i get the 90 back up again.
While all of that was heart breaking and insanely discouraging, i worked up enough yesterday to start building the rockscape for my 90 gallon. A lot of that is due to now knowing the alk consumption rate on this tank and the eradication of the hair algae. My hope is the tank is back on the mend and i make work the courage up to add another fish or 2 once i get this water change situation figured out

And on another random note my little protein skimmer died as well. Not really needed and i think the filtration in this tank was too good which is why my nitrates stayed at zero for so long.
