I am planning to drill and build a 75gal breeder for the first time for a LPS tank and I want to do everything right the first time and wondering;

Is there a difference in efficiency and noise between having a single bulkhead with an overflow stainer vs an external overflow box?

Is it better to have a larger overflow rated for a higher gph than the return pump and put a gate valve on the overflow?

Should I just spend the money and buy a pre-made sump or buy a sump kit for 20gal long?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

A1: Yes.

A3: Really depends on your budget and what you may want for features. Pre-made sumps do have a lot of cool options.

Plan for a skimmer and UV right off the bat (the UV will determine whether you run an open or closed loop).
