Hi,
I’ve been using the Triton method since day one. About 2 months ago I setup a Neptune Trident and afternoon 2 weeks of using it started to have it dose the Core7 to keep Alk, Ca and Mg steady.

was aiming for:

Alk: 8
Ca: 440-450
Mg: 1375

was going great. Growth started to increase and my Ca consumption went up big time. I was dosing 15-16 ml of Cor 3a and b and almost 25 ml of Core2.

Then all of a sudden Ca skyrocketed to like 520 then has progressed up to 610 this morning over the course of about 5 days. During this time I turned Core 2 all the way to only 1 ml and Ca was still rising!

What gives? Is something wrong? Did Ca build up? Is the possible the Trident is out of whack?

Thanks

Trident is out of whack, most likely. It can do that when running out of reagent. You mention 2 months, so I assume it is very low.

You should confirm this using another test like salifert or something.

The reagents B and C are low. Only 11 tests each left. I can replace those and see if it makes a difference.

with Red Sea for calcium I get like 475 which always reads a little lower than trident...

I just did a 20% water change and calcium went up on a test 2 hours after water change? I use Red Sea blue bucket and that’s normally 430-450 but yet my calcium went to 630?!?

it’s because the trident is sucking air, and giving higher results. The tubes in the containers might need adjustment, to ensure they are straight and low enough. If anything, submit ticket to Neptune.

Yup, check B and C. Maybe lower even than trident thinks. Once mine hits about 10 tests remaining things do occasionally go a tad haywire.

First off, you should be testing with something else. Check with api. You probably just have a bubble or something in one of the lines messing with the test. Check with another kit and go from there.

Figured it out...someone was right the reagents in B/C of the trident were too low. Replaced the reagents and fixed!

thanks everyone.
