I’ve had this squamosa ultra blue clam for nearly a month i would say. It was doing all right until this week it started to not want to open fully anymore, its mouth looks like it’s gaping, the edge of the skin doesn’t look smooth and i’ve seen some spots where he lost color. I didn’t add anything for these past weeks. I’ve seen my heniochus butterflyfish nip at it probably twice but after that it still kept going healthy. I’ve checked for any of those clam-pest snails but don’t seem to find any. Not sure if i should dip it in ReVive Coral Cleaner since it doesn’t mention that it is made to clean clams. Any suggestions?

Here’s a pic of the clam right now

Also if you guys can see, there’s a kind of hole in the substrate going under the clam. I might suspect if there are pests living there that could irritate the clam

Also for water parameters
Calcium: 430 ppm
KH: 11.5 DKH
Magnesium: 1400 ppm
pH: 8.66
Temperature: 25.5

I’ve been trying to lower the KH slowly with water changes but it never had a big jump and my clam used to be happy even when KH was quite high (12DKH)

I have 2 clams and I would say parameters are very important when keeping them. They can be very suseptable to swings and low calcium. Maybe lighting might be helpful to post parameters and lighting. Also if a fish is nipping at it could be stressing it out

IMO, the clam most likely was not healthy from where you got it. I see no new growth under the mantle. Add the stress of being nipped, etc, is most likely going to make the clam succumb to an early demise. I would not dip the clam in revive. Good lighting, stable chemistry are must for a healthy clam to thrive.
