Looks good for a 40 day tank. Small total ammonia readings are nothing to worry about. Welcome.
Thanks !!!!!! yea I heard the API test kits aren't the best but everything else is at 0 so just thinking it may be a false point of sale

For what it’s worth I think API gets a bad rap. It picks up stuff that can be disregarded, that’s all. As long as only a “tad” is detected it can be considered good.

I think your water looks fine. Just give it a few days to let everything settle in. It’s still very new.

If you got a skimmer, if it’s green you’ve got a phyto bloom. You can wait it out or lob a UV on, which will also protect your fish going forward.

These threads crack me up because I always bet myself how many posts it takes for somebody to say it’s a bacterial bloom LOL. Cloudiness is almost never a bacterial bloom; don’t think I’ve had one on 30 plus years of reefing. It’s almost always fine particulate, either from a newly setup tank or bleed from incompletely washed sand, or its free floating algae quite common in a new tank. Skimmer will eventually take care of it. If it’s algae, an UV can help.

question

we've noticed lately that how a thread is titled determines what is acceptable as a fix offer

meaning if someone titles a thread 'moving homes safely' then we'd disassemble the entire tank, clean it bottom to top, set it back up with new water as a skip cycle and nothing would cloud because its skip cycle handled as we've done 300 times.

and the keeper would be happy.

but if a thread is titled algae, or diatoms, that exact same move above is hated by 100% of the readers lol have you noticed we do that as a crowd

the action that will leave behind a sparkling clean reef will be instantly shot down in the sole place its needed. as if reefing isn't hard enough already

the number of people who complain of cloudy water after a tank move in our cleaning threads is 0

wanna rip clean.
