Help! Cracked torch skeleton!

I just cracked the skeleton of my brand new torch coral almost in half while trying to remove it from its frag plug. It didn't break apart all the way, is still loosely attached by the flesh band, although that did get slightly torn. I hastily glued it back together at the base and put it back in the water for now. Do I have to worry now about infection from the flesh tearing? Anything I should treat it with to help it heal?

I would dip in iodine.

Are the polyps on either head retracted? In case it develops something bacterial it would be beneficial for you to have Brightwell's Iodine solution on hand.

My .02, the crack doesn't look too severe though, looks like the polyps on both heads seem fine. Might be wise to glue up the cracks fully to prevent detritus from accumulating inside and then forming a bacterial infection.

i know @VintageReefer has had sucess with superglue. can you chime in @VintageReefer ?

Super glue and/or a little epoxy flattened into a thin disc and molded on that area would seal it of and fortify the skeleton. That'll keep it from separating. Ive done this two or three times already.

Well, the coral is looking normal to me so far, both polyps tentacles out. I have seachem reef dip, would that be ok for an antibacterial soak?

I did a search on this website for people with similar experiences, and it looks like I'm not the first to do this! Many people seem to have their torches fully recover afterwords.

Just thought I would update. The torch made a full recovery and has grown quite a bit since then.
