HELP! Dosed something and fish looking bad

I dosed this product and now my fish are lethargic and one is on the sand. What should I do?

Always do a big water change first and ask questions after.... Running carbon also helps.

And then come back and give us more details..... how much did you dose? how big is the tank? pictures of the fish? Why did you dose this???

Hi sorry just panicking. I dosed 15mL my tank is 150 gallons. The tangs are looking the worst. I can't take pictures they are behind rocks now.

Lanthanum and tangs have a tendency of not getting along. Tangs are usually on the losing end of that battle.

Do you run any mechanical filtration? Can you start making water for a large waterchange?

I can do 20 gallons within an hour or so...

No one really knows why, but the common theory is that lanthanum binds with phosphate and that gets caught in the fishes gills preventing them from breathing.

It's always best to slowly dose lanthanum into a filter socket to allow that reaction to take place there and then get trapped in the filter.

IMO Better to dose in your skimmer...

I dosed in the sump on top of the socks, but there is quite a lot of overflow. I just changed about 15 gallons, and then another 25 gallons.

One wrasse is breathing rapidly on the sandbed. Yellow tang is hiding behind the rocks or dead. Most other fish are lethargic.

I can run to the store and change another 20 gallons, should I do this?

You need to do everything and anything you can at this point to try to save your fish. The best thing is to take them out and put them in fresh saltwater. Even then you will lose some.

As I have learned the hard way, the less you add to your system the more successful you will be. Good luck.

changed another 20, fingers crossed. I'm guessing my wrasses and yellow tang are dead. Hoping the others survive. I won't be back until Sunday, so I'll change more then.

I have dosed Hydrogen Peroxide when I have had an issue. It breaks down into oxygen and has helped when I made mistakes and had fish in crisis breathing.

Don’t remember the dosage per gallon but you can safely do the dosage on Humble Fish for treating Velvet.

If it is LC, 15ml in 150 gallons is a lot. I used to dose LC in my 500 gallon reef and I would never dose more than 10ml at a time, in the overflow before my rollermat. Most of the time I would only dose 5ml... Never had any issues.

But maybe "Sparkle" is a diluted solution of LC?

Sailfin and yellow tang died. Wrasses are kicking for now.

My dad used to use it frequently, so I didn’t think anything of it. We had a tank service who gave it to us to use to clear up the water. Stupid decision I know

All fish are still eating, woke up today and Midas blenny was dead. Not sure if the same cause.. should I keep doing water changes?
