So this morning I say the crown of my feather duster detached and laying by the tube. The last several weeks he seems to have been fine. Fully opened, retracting when touched. I dose photoplakton twice a week. He did however, never really seem to have anchored down anywhere. He just laid in the sand by the rock. Is he alright? Should he be moved? I don’t see any body parts suggesting he was eaten if he escaped nor do I have anything in there that would attack him if he did. I can’t really see in the tube, but the tube looks fine. The crown is just sitting by the tube.

I had mine dump its crown a year ago when my alk was having swings, since I've stabilized things hes been fine.....usually its food related though, and hes hungry...dont worry hell grow a new crown though if everything is stable in your tank, just keep an eye on the size of the new crown, if smaller than original hes hungry

Should I feed now? Is two times a week not enough?

I'm not really an expert on them, so I'll let other people chime in....mine get fed evryday through all the fine particulate from frozen food plus 2or 3 feedings of reef roids/oysterfeast and aminos a week....I have a confession, I'm a feeder

As long as he doesn’t remain stressed, the crown should grow back in a few weeks.

Well see I feed aminos and frozen and the photo so I’m not sure why he’s upset
