Yes, if you're careful. Make sure the food is well mixed with the med and focus. Let it sit for about 30 minutes. I then feed only solid pieces of food, not the liquid, and only a few pieces at a time so I can see that all the food is being eaten by fish. Even so I've had pieces of medicated food grabbed and eaten by shrimp and nems, which I didn't like but which they all survived. Others have reported fatalities when inverts have gotten hold of medicated food, so it's important to be careful imo.
Some people also run carbon as well just in case any leaches into the water column. I have fed med soaked food in my DT without issue, including inverts and coral.

Wrasses still doing well and eating - no more signs of white stringy poop. They are still in therapeutic copper. I plan to give the second dose of GC tomorrow, 5 days after the first round

FWIW... I tried doing the gelatin thing and it was a waste of meds and food. None of my fish would eat it.

Fish can have white poop, as long as it’s not white AND stringy. If they are only eating mysis I would expect the poop to be pale/white.

I’d still deworm them preventatively... but you could likely wait for the focus if you order it online.

thanks - i am about to do the second round of GC now - 6 days after the first round. I was going to try the gelatin thing, but perhaps that is not warranted. i can always do a third round of GC after i transfer the fish from copper next weekend.

Fish are still alive and well. feeling a little bit more comfortable after the last FW dip. But one of the wrasses hates me... when netting him out for the FW dip, i used a fine mesh net and some how he managed to get the teeth that are inside of his jaw entangled with the net... essentially, he looked like he swallowed a net ball that got stuck in his mouth; i tried pulling it out, but it was clear than any force will break his jaw.

i had to quickly get my dissecting scope and kit; put him in a shallow ball of saltwater, then carefully use my dissecting scalpel and forceps to gently cut and remove the net ball that was lodged in his jaw, working with one hand and holding the fish with the other so he doesn't flop around... managed to get it out with no damage to the jaw... that was 6 days ago, and now, he hides whenever he sees me... if he makes it out of QT into the DT, i will name him Ordeal.

Oh geez! Glad you got him loose! I just use my hand with wrasses since they aren’t pointy or venomous lol probably not the most sanitary option, but it’s quick and not too stressful [emoji2372]

Other fish get the collection cup/colander treatment...

greetings all. I added the second dose of GC last night. Tank is also at 10 days of therapeutic copper. Today, i noticed that the flasher wrasse is swimming with a clear / white string of poop hanging from his anus.
Oddly enough, he experienced something similar at the onset of the first GC treatment. So no i am wondering, is it the meds that are making him have weird poop, or is this just a coincidence. a did a bit of reading and i heard that white stringy poop can be a sign of constipation. He is otherwise looking really healthy and does not appear thin; if anything, he looks pretty full. Thoughts ? thanks!

Are you treating for internal parasites with GC Bound to food with focus? Wrasses often have internal parasites and white stringy poop is a telltale sign .

You can check for constipation by boiling a pea, letting it cool and then feeding it to the wrasse

Rats! Check and see if you can get any food with metro already bound to it in Canada. Freshwater hobbiest sometimes treat internal parasites with fenbendazole in the food - maybe @Humblefish knows more about how that works, but at my local
LFS they say that they just mix food with canine fenbendazole powder in water and let it soak for a bit.

Food soaking fenbendazole treats intestinal worms, but not internal flagellates.

If you are still seeing white-stringy poop, I would go ahead and try the gelatin recipe. Maybe you’ll get lucky and he will eat it, I just didn’t have good luck with it myself...

I used this one, the “gelatin based”:
http://www.hikariusa.com/articles/medicatedfeed.html

I’d definitely mix some thawed frozen food in it as well... I only used ground up pellets when I tried it, following the recipe.

A quick pick of Rainbow Trout - the pintail wrasse and Ruby the carpenter flasher wrasse. The good thing about doing a communal qt is that now they are buddies
