I was sifting through substrate doing some cleaning when this guy popped out. 4 inches or so in length. Is anyone able to ID it? Is it harmful, beneficial, or benign? Any help is appreciated

I would need to see the head, but it looks like a Eunicid (= bobbit) worm of some sort. all Eunicids are predatory as far as I'm aware, so I would get it out ASAP.

Bristle worm, natural part of any tank CUC. They might be ugly but only really come out at night. Some do get big enough to bother prey on fish when either there is a lack of food or the fish is sick. Personally I don't mind them as long as they behave themselves

Looks like a fireworm based on the red spines on the sides, which are predatory. Could also be a large bristleworm, though I'm not sure I'd trust a bristle that big with small fish. Your call.
