help! im being overrun!

ive got a couple of things that are threatening to overtake my tank. here are pics of 2 of them. can anyone give me tips on how to get them out without tearing up my rockwork? and as you can see they arent just on the rocks either!

I feel your pain. I started with one pea sized mushroom a year ago, and now have dozens.

I would love that mushroom at the bottom.

Can you just use bone cutters to frag off some from the rock and keep pruning the rim of the colony to keep it back?

They don’t grow fast enough if you just take off 2 a week.

The second one looks like its in the sand, but it must be attached to the rock, or you'd have already found it a new home.

You're in for some work with the others... What I read, is bone cutters to break the rock under the foot, maybe get a screwdriver under the foot to dislodge it, razor blade... And i'm not sure any of these will be particularly successful.

I'd probably be looking to rehome that rock and replace it with something new.

I think it’s better to manage rather than remove all of them. Coral gardening!

Been there. I ended up redoing my scape.
I do have a couple still that i rip out mercilessly from time to time with some hemostats though. That has kept everything in check and under control. You could manage them, but it would take a lot of time and effort.

Omg my dream mushroom! No one has blue or purple discosomas for sale. It’s all jawbreakers. Granted I do have a jawbreaker myself but it doesnt* grow like a weed

I wouldn’t blame you. The blue discos apparently are so prolific and spreads more than Xenia.

It kinda looks like the hammer polyps that are in reach lose the battle to the discos.

Hundreds of these metalic reds with purple skin. And honestly. They are kept in check by my hammers



I dont view them as a threat. Shade and corals with sweepers will put them in their place. They just take up free real estate.

Yep, the blues are pretty mean, and hard to get rid of. Once there are like 5 that touch, all the next little babies pop off and settle wherever in the tank too, so they spread like wildfire once they take off.

I've had this 1 blue for a year. And the zoas and this blue have been at war for a year. So... i wish i had more blue but not sure howto detatch the zoas without mutilating the shroom.
