See pics, I just noticed these bumps on my pyramid butterfly and it appears his upper lip is gone. Is it treatable? Metroplex? Can I treat the whole tank? Or should I pull just him since he is the only one showing signs?

I have lots of SPS & LPS frags in the tank and several nems & zoas.

I am thinking this would be bacteria related. As long as he is still eating you have a chance at treating it. I would move just him into a QT and, if possible, treat with Metroplex, Kaneplex, and Furan-2. If Metroplex is all you have don't hold up treating while waiting for the others.

Which is best, I have to buy something
You really want all 3 if possible. They all excel at different categories of bacteria. Each are fairly broad spectrum though so if you can only get 1 or 2, get the ones you will be able to use most quickly.

+1 to dosing kanaplex, furan-2, metroplex in QT. You'll want to dose all three every 48 hours after a 25% water change, for at least 10 days.

A rally(acriflavine) bath might help slow the infection also

Acriflavine

I'd act quickly, with the mouth deteriorating he might not have much time :(

Do you run a filter while fish are in a hospital tank? Like a small HOB or something?

I have a small hydor pump in it for flow & a heater. I placed a piece of live-rock in it that I can toss when I'm done.

I fed him one last time before treating. He still eats fine.

You can run a filter, just make sure to remove any carbon cartridges since that would pull the meds from the water.

I use a 10g HT with an HOB rated for a 40g tank. I only use the sponge and ceramic cylinders that came with the HOB filter. Dump in about twice the recommended amount of BioSpira and I've never had ammonia issues.

Agreed with the combo of metro, kana and furan. dose all three in the QT every two days right after a water change. Do this for a minimum of 10 days, but longer may be needed. Antibiotics are notoriously slow acting in fish so be patient.

Were you able to treat the fish? I'm having the same problem with my pyramids and will be treating the fish with Metroplex, Kaneplex, and Furan-2. Just what a couple members suggested.
I know this thread is 3 years old lol

Thank you!
