Make sure you buy at retail or online distributor, because if you buy it from a third party the warranty is not transferable.

I prefer local fish store to keep them in business

Neptune has set pricing so it's basically the same everywhere. The only time I've seen them on sale is durng their black Friday deals or the occasional "specific item" sale.

Theres a lot of them second hand on RC very reasonable priced. I fried mine and needed a replacement asap, thats where I got it. $375 with probes and eb8 and display screen.

But if you have to have a new one, drsfostersmith, marinedepot, amazon. pretty much zero price difference anywhere.

You can certainly find them used and can do a factory reset on them. The warranty is the obvious issue as said above, but you can save a few bucks.

Not sure what you mean by bugs, but if you go second hand I would recommend just resetting it to factory and it's as if you're starting off new. At least that's what I did because I got a deal on a year old system. I've had zero issues.

Ive read about issues with the new apex since its release. Terrence assured me that those issues are in the past, but I wasnt sure if it was based on equipment or programming. Just a question I forgot to ask.

I wish I had made the deadline on the new Profi presale. Idk, my gut is telling me buy just buy a new Apex.

They still have lots of bugs and can cause lots of damage! That's all I can say !

i get all my stuff from BRS. they are awesome. i bought mine from them and all my modules. you can buy the old ones on BRS for 550 or something. the new one has a lot of stuff built in now so i would just shell out the extra money and get the new one. they do updates all the time. i love my controller and couldnt live without one now.

BRS. The price of the apex is set by Neptune. However you will get rewards points from BRS which can be used on future purchases. So in reality you are getting a discount. It is just a deferred discount

FWIW. Mine is still buggy. I get power failure messages several times a day. I just gave up on trying to fix it. They tell me it is my network. Neptune says that if there is a network issue the unit gives a power failure message However it is on an Ethernet connection. My classic apex is on the same connection is rock stable.

Keep them coming please!

@Terence please take a moment to explain why people are still having issues with the "new" apex. You had just told me the issues were in the past. Is this a programming or equiptment failure? Is this pertaining to the product launch? And how is it dealt with when it comes to the customer?

My other options are GHL, Cerebra, and RK. The most important "feature" for me is reliability and integrity. That should be an expectation, not a feature. $800 on a RC and its failing I would expect technical service to be on point as well as swapping out parts for new ones until the issue does not exist.

Thanks

Edit was for just for intro and close :)

I've had one issue with my 2016 Apex, the power bar was being re-addressed after a power failure. This happened a couple times and I contacted Neptune support. They told me it was a known issue and applied a beta firmware to my system. No problems since then.

Other than BF sales, your best bet is probably the monthly BRS Group Buy, which gets you 10% back in points. It's every second weekend of the month I believe, check the BRS forum page here.
