Picked up a few cheap starter corals, or what I assume are starter corals, to get my feet wet with trying to keep them alive and hopefully thrive before spending $$$ down the road.
While I know I don’t necessarily need a par meter, I went ahead and picked up one of the returns from BRS at a good price so I can always have it on hand to get a pretty good idea of what my lighting is before I glue a frag down.
Anyway, back to these starter frags I picked up, I think I know what some of them are, but could use a second opinion so that I’m sure I know their specifics for placement in my tank
All of these are very small frags, on quarter sized frag plates.
1. I think these two are Caulastrea, or what’s more commonly known as trumpet or candy canes, it I am not certain on any of these.
2. Favia?
3. Leather
4. No idea, my wife like it because it was pink in the LFS and looked like a cupcake.
5. Another mystery to me, but has the most flowing tentacles of everything else in the tank. And that’s a hermit crab at it’s 1 o’clock. Whe it has food land on it, it encapsulates itself and looks like a bubble before opening back up a few minutes later
