Help me pick my next fish

My tank is 29 gallons. Has 2 clowns and one firefish goby that I just put in after 6 weeks of quarantine. I would like to add one more and probably call it good for fish and then start switching over to corals to add.

I was thinking about adding a rainfordi goby as my 4th fish because I like their colors and the fact they sift a bit from the sand. Makes them fun to watch. Plus, they are pretty easy going fish. Any other recommendations on fish you all think would be a good fit for my tank?

One of my favorite fish is my sharknose goby, it's always out and active, sets up it's cleaner station but also eats anything food I add. As a cleaner species theres no agression with my other fish which includes clowns firefish and various gobies and blennies. Idk that this would be the last fish as I'd probably also add a sand dweller but the sharknose was an impulse buy for me and has become one of my favorites.

I may do a sand dweller as well but I don’t want to overstock my tank. I feel four fish is just right for a 29g tank.

I was going to suggest a goby and think it would be a great balance to your tank.

Depends on the fish imo, if the tank has a good live biofilter you can build the bacteria to support quite a lot and there's a difference between size of fish too. 10 barnacle blennies won't produce the bioload of one full grown Achilles tang ;) (that's extreme but you get it). To me your more limited by the specific territoy of the fish with a smaller tank like that bc one rock dweller would claim all the rock or one sand dweller the sand bed. With your current setup I'd personally be more worried about the FF once the clowns start breeding behavior. Mine are brutal about their territory and the FF are quite delicate and shy.
Obviously don't get any fish you don't want but that's my thoughts and method on stocking.

If you go with a sand sifting goby or a pistol pair just make sure your rock is secure and don't place anything on the sandbed that can't stand getting a bit covered. I love those fish but they do make a mess of piles out of the sand bed.

This is true. I forget because my goby won’t touch sand.

whenI put the firefish in she went down to the bottom and happened to stop right where my female clown likes to sleep. She was not amused at all. The clown came after the FF and chased off. Now the FF is on the other side of the tank and all is well.

You could maybe do some type of basslet. A shrimp goby is another good option. Maybe a pygmy perchlet would work. A rainsford goby is not a bad option either if that’s what you want.
