I just picked up my first salifert combo yesterday kits question is
When do I need to test
How often etc
My tank is 1 year old heavy stocked

Reef? What tests are you performing? Any current test results?

If fish only, I would test salinity and nitrates about monthly, just to make sure things aren't too out of whack.

If reef, I would add in alkalinity at least weekly and Ca and Mg at least once a month.

It’s reef heavy coral stocked and idk what goal to shoot for and it’s alk cal and mag

Good goals would be
Alk: 7-10 and stable
Ca: 380-450
Mg: 1200-1400

No time like the present. Or do you mean time of day? Just run all three today or tomorrow to get a baseline. Test alk again every day for a few days in a row at the same time and see if you can calculate a trend.

Are you dosing anything?
