Help my blind dog please

My dog is about 13 years old and while she's still pretty spry she's just walking into everything. The door, the chairs etc. I feel so bad for her and was just wondering if there's anything out there that might help her out. We were thinking about putting one of those cones around her neck so that she'll feel that hit the wall instead of her head, but that seems pretty extreme. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

Have the same issue with my 14 year old Shih Tzu. She just zig zags down the hall bumping into walls. She’s otherwise stoked and lived a long spoiled life, so we just let her do her thing.

Don't move furniture. if she can see some, like shadows, then putting up nightlights along her path can help at night

Blind or cataracts? You may want to look into a product called Can-C. The ingredient that has an affect on cataracts is N-acetyl-carnosine.

What's the difference between being blind and having cataracts? She used to be fine, but within the last few years or so it's gotten worse and worse. Other than being cloudy, her eyes look fine. (no discharge or anything) Is this "ingredient" something that the pet store sells? (maybe in the food?) I'll definitely look into it. Thank you for the information. :)

Cataracts cause vision loss, it clouds the lens so light can't get back to the retina.

Blindness can be cause by damage to the eye, such as from high blood pressure, affecting the eyes ability to function.

Lenticular sclerosis is common in older pets and the pupil may have a grayish appearance, this can affect vision but they can still see, just not as well as they used to.

Your vet can help you figure out which it is and what would help your pet the best. No point in trying drops for cataracts, if your dog doesn't have them. I'd also discuss any medications or supplements with your vet before trying them.
