Help, my hermit crab isn't moving!

This is my first ever time getting hermit crabs, as I am new to this hobby. When I got them, one of them didn't really seem to move all that much. It's been two days now and he hasn't moved at all, he's lying upside down in his shell. The other hermit crabs seem fine, they're moving around the tank and exploring their new home. Is he molting or has he passed on?

Get close to him with some tweezers, if he doesn't hide in the shell hes a goner and you can pull him out.

Happens fairly often, so dont stress it.

Hermit crabs do molt, but generally not in the shell. Please remember that hermits need to move into bigger shells as they grow and molt. If you go to your local fish store they usually have shells for sale, or buy them online. If you get a CUC from online, if you usually ask them to include them they will :) good luck

I have five shells for each of my hermit crabs in varying sizes when I got them. Should I move him and introduce him to the shells

Sure there was a hermit crab in the shell to begin with? I have received empty shells in the past.

Or maybe it already transferred shells?

Either way, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

No he was there before and he's currently flipped upside down. He remains in his shell and I can only see his legs, they aren't moving though

Give him some time ... he's probably freaked out ...

And if he has passed, the other hermits will eat him, so you'll know if he's dead.

Turn him over and leave him alone for a day or 2
