Help pleas

Hi there I’m very new only been doing this for about six months now. I have a 30 gallon tank with two small clowns a Blenny a goby tons of live rock live sand corals, I have two air circulator‘s a filter and also a protein skimmer and of course a heater. I had tons of trouble to begin with having high nitrates but I did get that under control. My tank is cloudy does anyone know what could be causing this? I just added the Gobi yesterday and my Blenny is bullying it?

Welcome how often do you do water changes and what percentage? A uv will clear the cloudy water caused by a bacteria bloom. You say you got nitrates under control what did you do to get them lower ?

I’m not sure if the water is cloudy from a bacteria bloom, or if the new goby is just stirring the sand around. Cloudy means different things to different people.

Judging by how “worried” the OP sounds, I’m inclined to believe that the water is cloudy from a bacteria bloom. They can look pretty scary.

I’m wondering if OP fed too much food? An abundance of carbon can cause blooms.

I would like to know what products @AmyDalman recently dosed their tank? NOPOX?

Bacteria bloom was my first thought too......

Welcome! Glad you joined. Also thought bacterial bloom, but not enough info so guessing root cause. Others have already shared info that would help determine what's going on. See above.

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

You mentioned filter? Are you running filter floss and carbon in the filter?

Welcome aboard, my tank had a huge algae bloom when new, nothing I did cleared it until I added a UV sterilizer, then it was gone in two days after persisting for weeks

Welcome to R2R! Like others have said a photo would help as there are several different possible sources of the cloudiness and, likewise, several different 'cures'. A list of your current test results would help along with any products you may be adding to the tank (additives, etc.). Also what kind of goby is the blenny harassing? There are literally hundreds of different gobies that run the gamut of personality traits, hardiness and habitat preferences.
