But I thought I remember Randy writing in another post that it will effect alk and or cal

This stuff?


I'm not aware of any Ca/Alk effects from this. It's basically coral nutrition.

Was is this product or something different ?
Do they , or can they effect alkalinity or calcium ?

I don't recall saying anything specific about this product, but some additives can impact alk.

Vitamin C dosing will boost alk, for example, if dosed as sodium ascorbate, and some forms of certain amino acids (disodium glutamate and disodium aspartate) will also boost alk.

In general at certain ph ranges compounds that take hydrogen molecules from the water and other compounds contribute to alkalinity. These type compounds do not contribute much in small doses.
