Hi Matt. Thanks I do need to give an update. Let me do that soon. But to answer your question yep I wound up ordering two scopes and sent one back.

I ordered the 2nd one b/c this thread (thank you) swayed me to try out the darkfield (still have to learn what that really is). My plan is to return the T360C.

I also ordered two different adapters to connect my Nikon D40 DSLR camera to get good pictures. I wound up keeping the $15 one. They're both really hard to get good pictures with I've found. More on that in my update.

After beating my Dinos (Amph) it seemed I was dealing with a cyano outbreak. Once again the microscope I purchased recently paid for itself again (twice within a week)! I decided to confirm if it was Cyano Spirulina, so I took a sample and placed it under my scope. Right away I saw it was neither but actual Dinos, again! This time red'ish Amph dinos. I did a few to make sure I wasnt missing something. My samples actually showed some of the previous brownish Amph swimming along with new reddish Amph. So I just continued my program of controlling NO3 and PO4 along with biodiversity (pods, fuge) and they seem to be fading back.

Thought I'd share yet another lesson of really knowing what's in your tank!

I missed this post. I see you got the darkfield kit. I'll be trying that out soon too as I'm making my own dark field stops. It will be good for looking at some if the bigger stuff like pods and worms.

For the less seen protists and stuff like amoebas and certain ciliates I'm looking forward to some phase contrast. Just need to save up a few pennies again.

Oh, and were you able to get your camera focused right?
