Can anybody help me figure out whats going on with this clam? Its been in the tank for 6 months, has shown growth, and started gaping yesterday.

The chalice could be sending out sweepers and irritating the mantle. Make sure the coral growth is not restricting the clam from closing/opening its valve. That's a nice squamosa. Check for pyramid snails. Have you added any new clams recently?

It can definitely open and close, and is still reactive to shadows above it. The chalice is a good 7 inches away from the clam itself, the only nearby coral is the plating monti it is sitting on . No new clams recently. I am battling a bit of dinos the past week.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
