Does anybody have experience with maxima clam? I got my clam yesterday. About 5.5-6in. Acclimated for about 45-50 mins, checked for pests and put in the tank. I know it takes some time for clam to adjust and open up but how long would it take for clam to fully open. What are signs of distress and how long does it take to acclimate the clam to light before moving it up to higher par area? I see that the clamp is gaping but it closes abd opens thru out the day. It reacts to me putting hands over the light but very slowly. Now it’s retracted deeper inside the shell. When i got the shipment water was super cloudy. Not sure if it was stressed during shipping or what. Any advice is appreciated.

Can you post a picture in white light please?

I see tentacles close by, don't let them touch the clam mantle...

What kind if light do you have? Unless you have a wicked overpowered light it won't need acclimation.

I know it looks close but the torch’s tentacles are far-away. Not touching.

The clam will unfortunately not make it. Once it recedes, it’s too late.

Something happened during shipping. The clam didn’t look very healthy to begin with IMO.

oh no, his mantle looks shredded. Did you get it like that, or did you notice it happen in your tank?
