hello, long time reader, new to posting. I have a friend out of state. That shared a photo of a coral in his tank. He doesn’t know what it is, I’ve tried my hardest. But can’t come up with a name either. So I thought I’d try the resourcefulness of the board.

Welcome to R2R! It looks like a black playzoa. Can’t really tell. A closeup pic of the polyps will make it easier to id.

Hello thanks, I think we’ve ruled out zoa. The large area on top is a mouth. The “polyps” do not have their own from my understanding. I will ask him to provide me another photo

Looks like a bunch of aptasia surrounding a blastomussa
I can see that. Impossible for a polyp to have a mouth and a skeleton to have a lone mouth for feeding. Perhaps a barnacle on a rock surrounded by aiptasia? Don’t know
