Hello everyone I recently added in a clown, two peppermint shrimp and a frag of gsp on the 10th, and I’ve noticed that my gsp has been closed up the (95 percent) of the time and when it is open, only like 5 percent of it is I moved it to the spot down on the picture two days ago and it hasn’t opened at all, I was wondering if it was the flow in my tank, and if it is, if someone could help me place my wave maker better I would appreciate it. It’s a “AQUANEAT Circulation Pump, 800GPH Aquarium Wave Maker, Fish Tank Powerhead Submersible Water Pump with Suction Cup.” In a 20 gallon Aqueon tank and I have put pictures of it along with my light schedule on an ai prime down below.
For my parameters ammonia is 0 nitrite 0 and nitrate 20 using api, I don’t have any calcium or magnesium test kits because the guy at my lfs I didn’t need any of those tests with one soft coral, I am using instant ocean but not the one for reefs I plan to switch to a different one when I run out.

TIA,

Difficult to tell without a video. Ripples on water surface show plenty of circulation. More than GSP need. Too much flow may be the problem. What coral is on top of rock work?

Not sure how well of a job I did with the video. The piece of coral on top of the rock work is fake, and I bought it from a seller on fbm if that’s what you were asking.
Thanks for the reply.

I’ve uploaded a link because I’m not sure if R2R’s video uploads works.

It looks very dim in the tank, is that an AI Prime light? It should be set somewhere around 80%+ IMO..... I have a Prime on my 15 gallon at 80% for mainly soft corals. The flow looks fine to me.

Sometimes corals don't do well in new tanks. My GSP failed when I tried it early so i just gave it a pass and tried it again later. I know it's supposed to be one if the easier beginner corals but that was not my experience. I now have some in several tanks. It does good in NO3 30+ PO4 0.3 -0.9 medium flow amd medium light.
But it doesn't mind low nutrients. I'm not sure you can give it too much flow or light. I have some growing like crazy in my SPS tank where NO3 runs near zero and I dose ammonium to keep it detectable. PO4 is not much higher at 0.04 Its getting 500 par and with a lot of flow. Tank is 36x22x22" with two MP40s running 70% both on the back wall. It grows so fast I have to cut it back from the wier every 2-3 weeks.

This shows the flow

It’s because when I took the photo it was 5 am so lights weren’t fully on, usually I have it at about 90/80 percent I’m using one of the schedules on the aI website.

Do you think I would benefit from having two smaller wave makers instead of one big wave maker I was thinking about getting two of these mini slim 2000 wave makers which run about 500 gallons per hour
