Help!! What is growing on my puffer?!

New puffer, LFS says it’s nothing to be concerned about but I’ve never seen this before

How do they look attached? Wiggling? Rigid?

Thats a porcupine pufferfish... Right? How long have you had it? Obviously you can see better then we can, but it kinda looks to me like his 'spikes' got stroked against the grain or something like that.

I've seen pictures of puffers with one or two of those, but never that many. No idea what they are though

Wiggling, had it a few days. They’re not pointy they kind of branch off at the end

They look to be growing in symmetrically. Could just be an in between phase as he grows into something similar to this guy. Perfectly normal in all likely hood.
