I have a 9410 DC skimmer which has been running for about a year with no issues. Last night it stopped working. The dial on the controller is blinking blue. There are no obstructions in the air line. I removed the impeller from the pump and cleaned it. There did not seem to be any obstructions. It turns freely by hand. When I put it back together and power it up, The impeller moves slightly then stops and the dial on the controller goes back to blinking blue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I replied to an email from you yesterday-

The two most important things that can cause this, the impeller is a magnet/needlewheel and shaft as one unit, these spin in ceramic sleeves in silicon rubber grommets. These sleeves must not be stuck to the shaft, the shaft must spin freely in these sleeves, if they cement together from calcium deposition and lack of service, the pump will only run by dragging the bushings and this will result in stoppage and damage. These bushing must be firmly seated, one down in a socket in the motor and one in the impeller cover. They have to be seated before installing the impeller and should only come out with effort and a tool is typically needed like a pick tool.

The other issue could be the intake on the pump is blocked, over time the air intake will plug with salt, either of these issues will increase the energy consumption and trip this safety shut down. Please check these two causes and reply with serial number and copy of the receipt if these do not solve it.

In this case, if you could PM me the info.

Roger

Rodger helped me diagnose the problem and sent me the replacement part. Easy fix, and my skimmer fired right up. Great customer service. Thanks!

Hi Roger
I had the same issue but now my controller wont turn on at all. I removed the controller cover and it looks like a transistor at the top has melted. Could I get/buy a new circuit board? My skimmer is less than a year old.
Thanks
Erik

Can I get a photo? It has a 5 year warranty, if there is no evidence of water damage and the pump is not locked up from neglect, we would replace the controller. The controller is an available spare part, for warranty I would need a photo of the damage, a copy of the receipt and the serial number.

Hi Roger,
I have 2 of the 9410 DC Skimmers. I swapped out the board from the running unit and the one that quit working now works no problem. So I do need a new board whether under warranty or not. Looks like some of the conformal coating is worn away - perhaps moisture or the board got hot in several places. I'm not sure how to DM you my receipts though.

It does not have a coating of any kind, it looks to be water damage, is the cable of the motor OK? A damaged cable can carry water back to the controller and the damage seems focused around the plug areas

Erik,

The main reason I asked is cable damage would be a possibility it could be warranty if it has a defect, I replied to your email earlier.
