I recently bought a Neptune trident and need some help. Note I have not dosed my tank with anything other than soda ash once to get my alkalinity to 10.2. I use RODI water and instant ocean reef crystals salt mix.
why is my calcium so high?

Sorry, I suppose more info would be useful. It’s a 210g that’s been running for six months. It’s my first saltwater tank though I have several freshwater tanks. Right now it only has corals and clean up crew as my fish have been in a 75g getting treated for mild ich for the last 2 months. I do a 10% water change weekly though there was a while I didn’t do water changes as I had taken the fish out.

Good question. I have not. That seems pretty obvious. I guess the reason I don’t immediately doubt the results as I was getting similar results from my Hanna instruments checker - which I did doubt, leading me to buy the trident.
I will do so today.

After calibration, I’ve got alkalinity of 10.94, calcium of 512, magnesium of 1395.
so what should I do? I suppose test my RODI water after adding salt? And probably a decent sized water change?

I think my pH is creeping down because my CO2 skimmer needs new media. Maybe that’s playing a role?

just trying to figure out if I need to be concerned about my high calcium numbers...
