Hi guys,

There's this coral that someone gave me that I am trying to save. I'm pretty new at this aquarium stuff, so I am wondering what kind of coral this is and how I would be able to help it grow and thrive?

I have other corals in the tank and everyone else seems to be very happy. Just did a water change and have not had the chance to test my parameters yet.

Please help!

It's the green algae or coral skin, any polyp extension anywhere on it, hard to say without some different pics throughout the day but it's possible it's toast, I would coral dip it if you haven't already maybe a small part of it is still alive and will regrow.

FWIW I wouldn't mess with your systems chemistry too much to try and save this single coral. You stand the chance of parameter swings stressing your other coral; this piece you're trying to save might be past the stages of saving.
Good advice.

Take the suggestions above and find a good spot in the tank for it.

Fingers crossed! I love rescue corals too.
